Switching Gears
While I am pretty happy about hitting a new PR on deads over the weekend, I realized (after I was done) that I have been doing some 1RM testing pretty close to each other on the same lift. I really did not realize that I was doing it either, as silly as that sounds. One of my friends usually starts hitting deads on Saturday and I have a hard time not hopping in.
What I want to do is back off of dead lifts for a while, not abandoning them entirely, but there are other lifts that I want to bump the numbers. Some of the training I have applied during open gym has really helped other lifts, specifically power cleans and the snatch. The EMOM work at ~70% of my 1RM has proven beneficial and not only helped with my max lifts but also makes working during the WODs a lot easier.
Basically, this is just some open thoughts about realizing a flaw in how I have been spending my gym time and something that I plan to correct moving forward. Carry on.
