FINALLY
Have you ever had a lift that gets into your head to the point where breaking beyond your personal best feels impossible? Power cleans for me have been that way. Not really sure why, but I think it is one of my weaker lifts. I was stuck at sub-200 for what felt like forever. 3 weeks ago I hit 215 and since then I have attempted 225 several times, failing each and every time. 225 has been in...

Really good place
For the past 2 weeks I have made some adjustments to what I have been doing physically, and for the first time in a while I feel like I am where I need to be.
I have been quite fortunate to have some new inspiration and motivation as well as positive accountability. All of that coupled with a friend who has been pushing me not only physically but with regards to nutrition. I actually came home...

A little track work
On the weekends some friends and I have been hitting a local track to work on intervals. It is so far out of my comfort zone, especially since I am the slowest runner there, but so badly what I need.
1 mile warm-up at an easy pace, 400m hard, 800m, 400m hard, 12 stadium stair runs, then a 400m jog to cool down. Nothing like interval running to get that heart rate up.
Not a bad start to the...

1,045 Pounds
Honestly, I have been looking forward to doing this all week. I love days when we are just lifting, and to have the time and freedom to test a 1RM on three lifts was awesome. I wanted to hit 1,000lbs total but was not really sure if that would happen. It would mean some monster lifts for me, including the strict press which I never have maxed on.
Here is what went down:

CF Total
Tomorrow’s WOD is CrossFit Total (Deadlift / Press / Back Squat). I have had a few people tell me I shouldn’t have trouble hitting the 1,000lb mark. While that would be nice, my actual goal is a tad bit lower. I have never tested a 1RM on strict press, so I have no clue where that is. My last dead was 440 and I think I could pull that again. The last time I maxed on back squats I...

Wanted. To. Die.
A buddy had texted a few of us with a WOD suggestion and it looked nasty. I knew it would be nasty. It was nasty. But worse than I originally thought. It has been quite a while since I wanted to stop during a workout. It has been even longer since I wanted to strip weight during a workout. I like being able to go heavy but this morning nearly crushed me.

Slimmer and stronger: A Henry County man’s journey...
I mentioned yesterday that the paper here ran a story about my journey to a healthy life. The article is online and I am re-posting it here for those interested in reading it.
Those that have followed me are no strangers to this story. Many others have done what I have done, some far more than me. What has really touched me are a few stories that I really had not heard about until recently. A...
