Square One
I refuse to go into Savannah untrained as I did with Nashville.  This weekend I resolved to get back in the swing of things so that is what I did this morning. The last time I ran over 2 miles was June 6th.  According to my Garmin, that run was labeled post-injury test run, so it was me testing out my feet and ankle after all that mess I dealt with a while back.  We have run at CrossFit but that...

Today I took a 3 hour nap. It was everything that I thought it could be and more. True story.

Have ya'll met?
Dear Internet, Please forgive me if I have not formally introduced you yet, but I would like for you to meet my wife, Gina.  She is now officially hooked on CrossFit and is hopefully going to be blogging more about her journey with a little encouragement. Sincerely, Jason

My Week of Programming
From time to time, I have heard people at the gym say “we just ran a yesterday” or “this week is nothing but pull-ups”.  It got me thinking. How hard is to program a week at CrossFit?  So I took a stab at it and just as I thought it would be, it really is difficult.  It was hard not programming toward my strengths.  Looking at the entire week was a challenge as well.  I did not want to tax a...

Then & Now
Our youngest is sick, and instead of keeping our oldest stuck in the house all day, my wife suggested a daddy/daughter date.  We stay so busy that one-on-one time is rare with our girls and something we need to make more of a priority.  Our time together is so precious. We went and did some shopping and it was great to let her roam around the store at her pace, not having to be anywhere at a...

Stop Being Afraid
This morning was one of those workouts that just was not written toward any of my strengths.  It was 1 minute of pull-ups, rest 1 minute, 2 minutes of wall balls, rest 1 minute, 3 minutes of burpees, rest 1 minute, 4 minutes of wall balls, rest 1 minute, and 5 minutes of burpee pull-ups.  If it sounds like a total suckfest, you would be right.  It was.  Given the limited number of wall balls I...

The Outlaw Way
If you embed yourself into the realm of CrossFit then you have heard of Outlaw CrossFit.  I have been following their programming and progress for several months, despite the fact that I cannot actually do their programmed workouts.  Perhaps one day I will have a home gym and focus more on certain things, but the reality for me right now is that I am window shopping.  The day I am able to have...

SMIT: I think the problem is that maybe we’re... →
mr-smit: I think the problem is that maybe we’re majoring in the minors. Maybe we’re too hung up on counting calories consumed and burned or whether that meal had enough protein or this one had too many carbs. Was it Paleo/Keto/Clean/WW-approved? The running becomes a chore. The cycling speaks for… Going to keep this right here, you know, since this is a reminder I need on a regular...
