I'll have a #2 and...
…spare beef trimmings treated with ammonium hydroxide, a large fry, and a Diet Coke.
Sorry to tell you all that if spare beef trimmings and ammonium hydroxide is your thing, then you will have to go to some place other than McDonald’s to get it.
“Pink Slime, Ammonium Hydroxide Fast Food Ground Beef Additive, Dropped By McDonald’s”
The crazy part is not that people...

My first 40-miler. Pitbulls & Heart Rates edition
Like I said, probably not a great idea to nearly double your biking distance after doing a WOD with 200 wall balls. But as I also discovered, sometimes the answer is simply, because I can. So yesterday, that is what I did.
Here are the Garmin details for those that care:
This was my 4th real ride and my best average to date has been 16.1MPH. So doubling my distance and still managing a...

PR
I don’t think I will ever get tired of being able to type PR.
But first, the workout. 12 minute AMRAP:
9 deadlifts @ 165lbs
12 hand-release push-ups
15 box jumps @ 24”
Felt pretty good. The weakest part of these were the hand-release push-ups. The slowest were the box jumps. I am starting to find a better rhythm to where I can hop up and pop back down quicker. The key is to...

Look around you, inspiration is everywhere
Isn’t that an awesome photo? Isn’t that a beautiful and strong woman? Amanda has put in a lot of work and it shows. She has dropped over 100 pounds and become a new, better, stronger, faster version of her old self.
I am fortunate to know her personally and to have seen her transformation. Through a close friend of hers, she made the decision to change, setting in motion a chain...

Because I can
I think many of us here in Tumblrland can relate to feeling more comfortable with our online realm than that of the real world. Far too often, we don’t vibe well with those we come in contact with on a regular basis because they simply don’t get it. They don’t, and probably never will, understand why we workout the way that we do, run the way that we run, bike the way that we...

The road is too wet for two wheels...
…but not for two feet.
Longest distance since Tough Mudder.
We had planned on a 40 mile bike today but with the heavy rain yesterday and light rain today, the roads are far too wet. But with the mist I could still get out and stretch my legs. So that is just what I did. And it felt amazing. I didn’t really have a distance planned, but wanted to run at least a 5K. At around the...

Filed Under: Damage Control / I Have Money to make
So Paula Deen has recently appeared on the news stating that she has been diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes. But rather than admit that what she encourages people to cook is unhealthy garbage, she has teamed up with a medical company and is also not changing how she eats.
Sounds like a great role model to me. But hey, when you have a TV show and...

2nd Group Ride
Yesterday I went out on my second group ride. I was a little nervous because one of the guys I knew was an amazing biker. I figured he would totally slaughter me, which in certain areas he did. However, this guy was one of the nicest guys I have met. Instead of using the ride to blast me, he stayed with me a good bit, slowing down so I could keep up, and giving me great tips and pointers on...

CF + HR
WOD - 15 minute AMRAP:
10 deadlifts (RX = 1/2 body weight; Beast = body weight)
10 push-ups
20 GHD sit-ups
200m run
This was actually Thursdays WOD and after reading it I was a little bummed that I couldn’t do it (can’t get in there on Tues/Thurs because of my schedule) so myself and one other guy opted to give this a shot instead of the regularly scheduled WOD. Since we have a...

Portion Control = Effective
I wrote over the weekend about wrangling in the diet once again. Amazing how you can eat healthy stuff but still be out of whack. I was eating good food, and often enough throughout the day, but some things were killing me. Specifically:
I was eating far too much when I ate. My breakfast was probably appropriately sized, but the snacks were out of control. I would just eat and eat and...

"There goes our sport."
Reading through some Facebook posts the other night, I saw this pop up via Progenex:
The Biggest Loser begins tonight, and according to Bob Harper the entire season will be all CrossFit. Will this be good or bad for the sport?
Sadly, one of the first comments I read was this:
There goes our sport.
There have been times when I have been ashamed of some of the people that opt to represent...

What does it mean to Race Epic?
Hopefully the organizers of Race Epic won’t mind, but I took some creative liberties with what exactly it meant to “race epic”.
The premise is to bring in 2012 by running. Makes total sense and I absolutely love the idea. Vastly different than any other New Year’s Eve for me. Yet, the more I thought about it, the more I thought that this Race Epic thing was for me to...
