Day #250
On our calendar at home, my wife and I kept track of the days of our new lifestyle. At first, it had a lot to do with the fact that the book we were going by was a 30-day thing. Then it got interesting to see how far along we would get. 250 days ago we decided enough was enough and changed our lifestyle.
It is interesting to go through my blog and read some of the earlier posts, the first...

Can't you wear gloves?
After I posted a photo of my hands, and showed a few friends, I got a lot of feedback that usually was just “Why can’t you wear gloves?” They look a little worse now than they did, but trust me, they feel a lot better. So why don’t I wear gloves?
The truth is that, when I started CrossFit, I did wear gloves. From my Globo Gym days I remember that if you were going to...

And today I didn't even have to use my AK...
Kicked the day off right with a little bit of CrossFit. Have to admit, when I saw the WOD I got a little cocky and thought that it wouldn’t be super tough. That lasted until the about the 7th round and I remembered that it is never a good idea to bring your ego into the box with you. There was no real score with this WOD or time, since it was 15 one minute rounds. Got tough there at the...

We had bacon at CrossFit this morning...
WOD: Bacon
What? More pull-ups? Because we haven’t done enough lately? I kid, I kid. The pull-ups are hard for me but I want them. I want so badly to get my rhythm correct with them and the only way that is going to happen is to do them. No more bands for me, ever. 10 at a time is much easier to digest than 20 or even 40, so this was a great WOD!
7 1/3 rounds @ RX

Thursday, you belong to me...
So maybe I only partially own Thursday. Because I certainly did NOT want to get up and do ANYTHING this morning. I pushed the alarm back a little, got a few more Z’s, and when it went off again I crawled into the closet to change. Glad that I did because the weather was nice and brisk this morning. Even though I would have rather been in bed, I know my day will be better because I got...

Running With Guts: SUPERDUPER RAFFLE OF... →
runningwithguts:
As many of you know, I’m running the 2011 ING New York City Marathon with Fred’s Team, an organization that raises funds for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Do you want to win some sweet running swag and help beat cancer into submission? I thought you might!
ALL OF THIS COULD BE…

Behind the scenes: Making the Pacemaker commercial
Not sure if you caught an earlier post of mine or not, but it was a commercial about a 5K/10K on the horizon here in our area to benefit the Henry Medical Center Foundation. Great cause and we were very fortunate to have the Tax Commissioner, Sheriff, Commission Chairman, owner of CrossFit Pulse, and others who volunteered their time to make this happen. I was happy to be there to take a few...

Good morning, Thursday. I'm here to crush you.
I am not as good as Brenna at taking interesting photos. But hey, I’m trying!

SEALFIT
If you have seen all of these, then you will agree they are worthy of watching again. Really interesting videos, and I never tire of watching stuff like this.
One thing that really stands out to me as I watched these, was when they got to Murph in Evolution 4. Jeff Severn, who worked out with Lt. Murphy, offered this:
“Murph was a bad ass dude. That’s all there was to it. This...

For you fellow UGA fans out there, you certainly remember Knowshon Moreno. Dude exploded on the scene and was so fun to watch.
Before the NFL season, he wanted to step his game up, and turned to CrossFit, being trained by Matt Chan at CrossFit Verve. He leaned up from 215 to 200 pounds. Also, as Brenna pointed out, he took his Fran time from 8:06 in week 1 to 3:39 in week 7. Wow. And what a...

But, it's a "diet" drink!
Every time I hear “it is OK to have it in moderation” I somewhat cringe. More times than not, the person saying it is OK to have something in moderation does not actually have it in moderation, they are merely defending their right to consume whatever it is. And that is fine with me. If moderation to you is a pound of ground beef delivered through a fast food window, then I guess we will have...

Beat the Heat Challenge: 2nd Place
So I am still not 100% sold on this Fitocracy thing. I like the challenges, but honestly, I am following a training plan for the half-marathon in November and doubt that Fitocracy right now will encourage more working out from me. With that said, it was cool to login this morning and see I got 2nd place in the Atlanta Beat the Heat challenge!
And my overall ranking has drastically improved...
