1455!
I hated admitting this stuff when I was doing it, but now that I am eating clean and have dropped weight, it makes talking about the past easier for me. I was a Chick-Fil-A junkie. Big time. I went by several times for breakfast. On Friday’s I would grab 2 sausage biscuits, an order of hash browns, and a large Diet Coke. I knew that what I was eating was bad, but I really had no idea...

pickyourhard asked: How I wasn't following you before this I don't know... I am so thankful Brenna alerted me to your post and your blog.
I'm not sure what to say, honestly... other than thank you. It's a privilege to be a part of this community each and every day, and I am so humbled by your kind words. Thank you. Really.

Pick Your Hard
Ever since I came across that name on Tumblr a little while ago, it has stuck in my head ever since seeing it. How awesomely motivating that is. Don’t take the easy route. Pick the hard way. Be stronger. Be fierce. Be power. Be endurance. Be those things you want to be deep down inside. The only way is to take the hard way and overcome. I wish I had thought of a cool name like...

More from Warrior Dash
Here are the best “official” photos from Warrior Dash. These are me scaling the car obstacles.
One of the last muddy water pits I went through.
I really felt like I had no gas left in the tank right here.
Jumping the fire…
And the finish line…

Friday Smile
My wife picked me up at work for a lunch treat (sushi). When I got in the car she was smiling. She said “Hey there hot stuff. I had to do a double take you are getting so skinny.” By far the best part of my day.

Warrior Dash Recap
For some, Warrior Dash was another party to attend. For me, it was more than that. It was more than a race. It was letting go worrying about what others thought of me. It was removing limits and boundaries. It was having confidence in myself to go out and do something that I have never done before.
The course we ran [here] was much too detailed to describe here. After sitting in the sun...

Alive
This morning I woke up sore. I have calluses on my hands from Crossfit, cuts on my hands, knees, and legs from Warrior Dash, and healing cuts on my arm from mountain biking. I have never felt more alive.

runningwithguts asked: I saw your post this morning about inspirational blogs, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU. Your description of mine is one of the nicest things anyone could possibly say about me, and I really take it to heart.

akumasureiya asked: When I was doing 11-13 mile circuits last year, I would stage electrolyte packets (like Gu) and a bottle of water at my halfway point. I would run a 5.5 or 6.5 mile route, which put me at my house halfway through my run, down my water and my Gu packet and then run the route again. There was a nice sense of accomplishment by continuing on even though I was at the house and could have easily given...

Distance Running: What I Learned This Week
The difference between running 9 miles and 7 miles is much greater than 2 miles. Here is why:
Despite doing Crossfit at 5am, I still had gas in me to run. Looked forward to it all day. That has never happened. Maybe the distance increase had me geeked.
I seemed to have found a new running route which feels entirely up hill. Ugh. Regardless, the hills, as much as I hate their guts, help me. ...

Broke through
Broke through a several week plateau this morning. Sure, it was only 1 pound but that pound took me from 240 to 239. If it was 241 to 240 I wouldn’t have been as excited, but being officially in the 230s has me pumped. It’s been 10 years since I weighed that!
My normal calorie intake ranges from 1400-1700 calories a day. With the increase in exercise (Crossfit, running, mountain biking) I believe...

Feel Good
This past Friday I went to the opening show for a fellow photographer friend of mine. She is extremely talented and equally kind. I was more than pleased to check her show out and see her work on display. There were several people there who I have not seen in person since I started to get healthy, which was about 50 pounds ago. I got at least one double-take and many more compliments. It just...

Long Runs
This is something that I honestly cannot explain fully but am totally stoked about. The two runs above are my last two long runs which I am doing once a week. My goal is to do one long run each week where I slowly increase my distance without as much focus on pace and time. However, my run last night was not only longer, but I had a better pace. Talk about feeling great! I don’t think I...

I need a new doctor
Remember this post about my blood pressure medicine being lowered? During the doctor’s visit I sat in there and face-to-face with my doctor, explained how I had lost 50 pounds, been eating clean since late December, and began exercising 5 to 6 times a day. I even had a brag photo to show the “then & now” to her. The doctor was happy to see all of my changes. When the...
