Tough Mudder Florida Preview
Tough Mudder has posted some preview photos as they ramp up for the event in Tampa on Saturday. I’ll put these behind the jump to save your dash, but after looking at these I just can’t help but think how amazingly awesome and difficult this event is going to be. What better way to end this year than with something like this?
More here.

The Toughest Journey
One thing that I love about CrossFit is when people ask me how much weight I have lost. Inside, I am grinning when I tell them 80lbs from my heaviest. They usually respond with “wow, that is crazy” or something along those lines, bringing the grin to the surface. There has been a few times when my homie Ben has been standing there with me and I absolutely love pointing to him and...

An unitentional victory
Yesterday our family got up early, not to cook or shop, but to participate in a 5K/1-miler. It was something totally new for us as a family. For me, I had a little victory take place and thought I might share it here.
At the end of my 5K yesterday, I started to reflect back on how far we have come. A 5K would have previously been a major undertaking. It was not something as simple as it might...

Don’t get me wrong here, I like the Biggest Loser. The 30 Day Jump Start book was what turned things around for me. I still find the show inspirational to watch. That being said, is there something wrong with me when I think that Jillian Michaels, who appeared to struggle through this, should have done better? Yea, it’s a TV show promoting health. I understand that. I realize she...

CrossFit 5K Recap
On Saturday, our box (CrossFit Pulse) descended upon the CrossFit 5K at Atlanta Motor Speedway. What initially started off as an event that I had no plans on attending, turned out to be one of my most memorable 5Ks this entire year.
First, I was not going to do this run. After Savannah, I really have had no desire to run at all. In fact, since the marathon, I have only run 2 miles other...

Cheesecake Factory
Friend: How was the Cheesecake Factory the other night?
Me: Imagine walking outside and the weather is perfect. Not hot. Not cold. A slight breeze from the east. Just enough to slightly move your hair. Somewhere in the distance, you can hear a dog barking and little children playing. The road in front of you is paved with a golden light of a thousand fairies. At the end of the road, amidst a sea of parting clouds, a single beam of sunlight shines down upon a pedestal. The light spills out around the pedestal, falling on the golden ground beneath it. On that pedestal rests red velvet cheesecake. An angel appears to hand you a platinum fork and then disappears. And with a single bite, all of the wrongs in the world are instantly righted. The planets align, the lame are healed, and any care or responsibility has long since left your mind. A single tear rolls down your cheek, a tear of glee, happiness, and satisfaction. In this moment, you are free.

Moving forward
Now that our monthly Wicked Fit challenge at our box is over, the marathon is over, and the only real event on my schedule coming up is Tough Mudder, it has left me to think about what I want to do moving forward.
First and foremost, I want to maintain how I eat (I hate to use the word diet) but want to change things up. During the Wicked Fit challenge I did the Paleo thing. I took before and...

Welcome Home...
It felt so good to be back at CrossFit this morning. To see the familiar faces, the equipment, everything. Felt like I had been gone for months.
After the warm-up (8 rounds of tabata jump rope and 8 rounds of tabata abs) we were given about 15 minutes to work on something we suck at. For me, that was overhead squats. I ended up doing about 5 sets of 10 @ 65lbs. I ended up putting a medicine...

My First Marathon Experience
I am going to do my best to put my thoughts down about my first marathon and hope that it does not turn into a glob of random information about the day. This post is most likely going to be longer than Kim Kardashian’s marriage. Well, that really isn’t a stretch. Regardless, I will put all of the details and photos after the jump.
This run was a pretty big deal for my wife and I. It...

Me vs. Me and You vs. You
The further I have traveled down this path, it has become painfully clear that it should only be me vs. me and you vs. you. Said here many times over, a fast runner I am not. But I am faster. I am getting better. All of the sweat spilled in the gym, all of the mornings pounding the concrete & asphalt while everyone was asleep, all of the meals eaten at home instead of at a fast food...

Silver Comet Photos: Which would you order?
The photos from my first half are now online. It is decision time. I want to order a few of these but not sure which ones. If these were yours, and you could only pick a few, which of them would you get?
#1
#2
#3
#4
#5
#6
Right now I am leaning toward #2 and #4.

Can you train for a marathon and do CrossFit, too?
Ever since I started training, I have been keeping a “journal” of what all I have been doing. Sure, you see a lot of it posted here with regards to the long runs and CrossFit WODs, but there has been a lot of stuff in between that might not have always ended up on this blog.
First, before you read it, please know that I am well aware I am not running enough by the standards of traditional...
